We have been discussing social media strategies with a director of marketing for a regional restaurant chain in Carlsbad, CA that is looking for fresh ideas. One of the strategies we suggested was to institute promotionals/coupons via Social Media; in this case, Twitter, i.e. “Mention Twitter and receive a free slice of Cheesecake (tonight at San Diego location).”
To comfort them, we let them know that they were not the guinea pig by any means and that they could benchmark this innovative approach taken by P.F. Changs. In case you haven’t heard about it, the restaurant rewarded a restaurant diner with a free meal and dessert for Twittering about how much she enjoyed her food. Needless to say, P.F. Changs has gotten a tremendous amount of PR for acting on this Social Media trend.
